Learn how Tracey Ryder & Carole Tapalian combined their talents and passions to create a business, in their case, a magazine called Edible Ojai, that became the basis for a successful publishing company with 70 titles across North America.

EDIBLE COMMUNITIES is a publishing company that creates editorially rich, community-based, local-foods publications in distinct culinary regions throughout the United States and Canada. They began with just one magazine, edible Ojai, which was a big success. It has become the nation’s largest publishing company dedicated to the local foods movement; the company currently publishes 70 titles across North America.

Tracey Ryder co-founded Edible Communities, Inc., the nation’s largest publishing company dedicated to the local foods movement, in 2002. The company currently publishes 70 titles across North America, including Edible Boston, Edible San Francisco and Edible Vancouver, and is currently adding new magazines at a rate of 10 per year.

Carole Topalian, co-founder and vice president of Edible Communities, Inc., travels the world with a gifted and finely tuned photographer’s eye. Carole’s photographs bring the Edible Communities’ mission to life, telling visual narratives about what local food networks look like today.
